Team America Football Club 94 (TAFC94) is proud to announce the hiring of Roberto Hernandez as its new head coach. Following a thorough evaluation process of multiple, well qualified candidates, TAFC94 selected Coach Hernandez for his extensive experience with player and team development.
Since coming to the United States in 2003, Coach Hernandez coached several teams in the Northern Virginia Central American Soccer League. In 2004 and 2005, his CD International team took 3rd place in the league. In 2006, he led his team, Cuscatian FC, to win the championship. He continued to lead them to place 2nd in the league in 2007.
Coach Hernandez started his professional soccer career at the age of 16, playing for the U17 El Salvador National Soccer Team. At age19, he joined Club Deportivo Agulia and in 1992 he played for the U20 National Soccer Team. In 1996, Roberto played on the U23 Olympic Team. Throughout his time on the El Salvador National Team, Roberto played in three UNCAF Cup tournaments, two World Cup tournaments, the 1998 Gold Cup tournament in the United States and four Champion Cup tournaments. He also played in the Central American All-Star Games in both 1997 and 1998.
Roberto played 56 international games with the El Salvador National Team competing against Brazil, Greece, the United States, Columbia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba.
The players and parents of TAFC94 are excited to have a leader with the experience and track record of Coach Hernandez, and are looking forward to a successful 2008-2009 campaign in the National Capitol Soccer League, VYSA State Cup, U.S. Club Soccer, and Indoor National Tournament.
